Meet The Elf: Vanha

Head of Artefacts at The Hall of Records

Meet Vanha

Deep within The Hall of Records, surrounded by ancient scrolls, mysterious relics, and forgotten pieces of history, works one of the North Pole’s greatest historians — Vanha.

As Head of Artefacts, Vanha spends her days uncovering lost treasures from the past and helping preserve the magical history of the world for future generations.

We sat down with her to learn more about her life, dreams, favourite discoveries, and why she believes organisation is one of the greatest gifts an Elf can possess…

What is your name?

Vanha

What is your job?

I am the Head of Artefacts at The Hall of Records.

How old were you when you discovered your calling?

It took me some time to discover my true calling. I was probably a little older than most Elves — somewhere between forty and fifty.

What is your favourite part of your job?

I absolutely love the moment a new discovery is made.

The same excitement washes over me every single time a new artefact is uncovered. I also feel that same wonder whenever I am lucky enough to hold even the smallest piece of the world’s history in my hands.

Do you have a hidden dream that you have never shared with anyone?

I have always dreamed of making a truly enormous discovery… something that completely changes the way we understand history.

Mrs Claus or Santa?

Whenever I read these interviews, I always feel sorry for the Elf being asked this question… and now it is me!

I must say I am a very big fan of Mrs Claus. We have so much in common, and she is always fascinated by our latest discoveries.

But of course, I love Santa as well!

What is your proudest achievement?

I have been fortunate enough to experience many wonderful things during my years in this role, but I believe my proudest achievement will be when my team and I finally complete the collation of the ancient Elven Scrolls — a project we are now very close to finishing.

How do you replenish your energy?

I love to curl up beneath a blanket and read.

What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?

I believe my greatest strength is how organised I am.

My greatest weakness is probably the opposite — I struggle to work without perfect organisation and structure.

I truly dislike mess!

Do you have any scars?

No, I am very fortunate that I have never suffered an injury that left a scar.

What do you do for fun?

I absolutely love skating.

Favourite meal?

My daily breakfast of bubble and squeak!

Favourite film?

Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.

I must have watched it more than one hundred times.

Super strength or super intelligence?

Without question… super intelligence.

Favourite book?

The Lost City of the Monkey God

Favourite fairytale?

Little Red Riding Hood

Sprouts or gingerbread?

Sprouts!

They are the key ingredient in my bubble and squeak.

Favourite sport?

Since I love skating, I would say either speed skating or figure skating.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

A reindeer.

I would love to see the world through their eyes, even if only once.

What are your dreams for the future?

My dream is simply to continue discovering wonderful things from the past for many years to come.
