There is an old saying amongst the tea masters of Santa's Village:
“Where warmth is freely given, Christmas will always find its way home.”
Olde Saint Nick Tea is one of the traditional festive blends prepared at The North Pole Tea Shop, where Huatua has spent more than a century studying the character of leaves, fruits, flowers and herbs gathered from across the world.
Created in honour of Father Christmas himself, this rich black tea is blended with orange and pieces of cranberry, producing a wonderfully festive infusion filled with deep tea notes and bright, warming fruit.
But Huatua will tell you that the ingredients were chosen for more than their flavour.
In old traditions, orange has been associated with the sun, happiness, prosperity and good fortune. Its bright colour made the fruit a natural symbol of returning light during the darkest months of winter. Cranberries, meanwhile, bring the character of the northern wilderness to the blend — vivid red berries flourishing through cold landscapes and traditionally gathered as a precious seasonal food.
And beneath them both lies black tea.
Huatua believes that every tea leaf remembers the place in which it grew: the rain that fell upon it, the sunlight that warmed it and the hands that gathered it. For generations, the Elves of the Tea Shop have therefore regarded a good black tea as a drink of warmth, resolve and quiet contemplation.
The resulting blend is said to be particularly suited to cold winter evenings, fireside conversations and those moments when a little Christmas spirit needs restoring.
According to Huatua, Santa himself is rather fond of it.
Although precisely how many cups he drinks during December remains one of the better-kept secrets of the North Pole. 🎅☕
